Collage and assemblage have always been central to my practice as an illustrator and designer. It is through the immediacy of collage, as an intuitive, conceptual and material process, that I grasped my initial understanding of image-making, design and typography. The examples shown demonstrate various stages in my transition from handmade collage to a more painterly and drawn approach to making illustrations. However collage still remains a significant part of my visual process and language in the illustrations I make, and more significantly in a digital design context. My current practice as an illustrator/designer moves continually between analogue and digital processes.
